PERMANENT SOLUTION TO HAIR LOSS:
FUE HAIR TRANSPLANTATION SURGERY
Men type Hair loss (baldness) is another problem that plagues people of both sexes.
Data shows that hair loss affects 50% of men and 30% of women by the time they reach their 50s. It affects 80% of men and 60% of women by the age of 70.
Women are a bit luckier when it comes to this problem, since there are ways they can use to style their hair that allow them to conceal hair loss more effectively, but this is not the case for men.
What is FUE?

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) of hair follicles thickens hair where hair loss is already being experienced or where it is likely to happen, due to the influence of genetics.
For whom is this right decision?
Anyone with permanent hair loss is a candidate for hair transplantation.
_ Men that have male pattern baldness
_ Women who have female pattern baldness
_ Anyone who wants to redesign or correct his or her hairline
_ People who experienced local hair loss after physical injury, trauma, or vestigial skin disease
_ Also suitable for people who want thicker eyebrows, eyelashes, or beards.
How is the FUE technique implemented?
In FUE technique, the skin is cut using a surgical instrument that makes small circular cuts.
Cuts are carefully made so that one unit of follicle can be taken around each hair follicle.
The marked hair follicle is taken out, along with the tissues which surround it and then it is
chilled until it is re-rooted in its new location. Depending on how many follicles are involved,
follicle collection session can take 1-2 hours, perhaps even longer in extreme cases.
The second step is to prepare the surface that will receive the hair. The follicles are placed inside of small incisions on the patient's head. This step takes 3-6 hours.
How long does hair transplantation take?
The hair transplantation takes approximately 6-8 hours on average. Although we can perform mega-sessions for upto 4500 grafts hair transplantation in 10-12 hours in 1 session; for cases of extreme hair loss, multiple sessions may be required. The gap between sessions can range from 1 day to 6 months.
How about the recovery period?
There will be tiny scars (approximately 0.7-1.0mm in diameter) on the site from which the follicles were taken. These scars dissappear in 7-10 days. After the operation, approximately 25% of patients develop some swelling on the upper part of the head and around the nose, but they go down within 3-4 days. These complications aside, you can carry on with your normal life following this operation.
The important thing to remember is that everyone has only one donor area and the hairs taken from this area must be used carefully and effectively.
When can the operation be performed?
Hair transplantation can be performed at any time after the age of 20. Individual outcomes may vary depending on several factors which your doctor will review with you in the physical consultation. Partial hair loss at an early age must be considered very carefully. Areas of high priority and areas of lesser priority should be determined during the consultation. The area of skin with the hair loss must also be examined carefully. You may have to change or stop taking certain medications prior to undergoing a hair transplant surgery.
CAUSION:
-
Hair transplantation is a surgical operation that should only be carried out by a Plastic Surgeons and an experienced nurse team.
-
The most productive session possible involves taking 3500-5000 follicles. Scientific researches and articles has demonstrated that it is not acceptable to take more than this in one session without damaging the donor area. No more than 25% of the donor area may be considered for use during the planning session. The patient's comfort and health must be taken into consideration and session must be properly planned by an expert plastic surgeon, otherwise the patient is at risk of complications, poor post-operative outcomes, or excess strain on the body due to prolonged exposure to local anaesthetic.
-
It is very important to plan a natural-looking new hairline to fill in the hairless area.
-
High quality outcomes are possible for patients who have a well-planned surgery with an experienced plastic surgery team led by an expert plastic surgeon.
