LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Attention Please! Please pay attention to the fact that The Ministry of Health in Turkey has authorized the Health institutions to conduct laser hair removal where a doctor is present and can responsible/control of the process. Laser hair removal treatments should not be done in beauty salons and hairdressers. These devices use various kinds of light sources with different wavelengths that might cause serious problems if used by one not qualified to use the device. Informed Consumers are advised to go to recommended health institutions for laser hair removal applications.

Before the therapy

Preparation

Removal of unwanted hair in the body is one of the leading cosmetics problems, perhaps the most important one. Therefore, various epilation methods and tools have been developed and widely used for thousands of years. In expense of enduring the pain, human beings wanted to get rid of the unwanted hair and thus improved new procedures and equipment day by day.

HAIR REMOVAL WITH LASER TECHNOLOGY:

The goal of laser epilation is to destroy the areas which are responsible hair reproduction and vascularization to prevent re-development of the hair. To achieve it, color of the hair (pigment) is being targeted. The laser energy captured by pigment is converted into heat energy and veins surrounding the follicle disappear.

RESULTS OBTAINED WITH VARIOUS LASERS:

ALEXANDRITE LASER:

Alexandrite laser can only be applied on light skin on thin and superficial hair. When used on dark skinned or people with tanned skin, there is a high risk of serious side effects. Also, this laser should not be used in facial applications. Although it may seem effective

at first sight as shaved hair roots are burned off, this method cannot really get rid of the roots, therefore its long term rate of success isn’t

as high as other methods’.

LONG PULSE Nd: YAG LASER:

1064 nm (Nd: YAG laser wave length) is the wavelength which can penetrate the deepest parts of the skin. For a laser application to be considered as successful, the laser beams need to reach the hair follicle reproduction areas which are located at the deeper layers of the skin and damage these areas. Alexandrite, Rubi and Diod lasers cannot reach these deep layers, so they have lower success rates compared to Nd: YAG)

LP (long pulse) Nd: YAG lasers can be used safely on every type of skin and hair, especially on darker skin tones.

SYNCHRO-HP:

It is more suitable for a light skinned person to opt for the latest technology called UPL with a special patented cap that allows laser beams to reach hair follicles more effectively and does not affect the adjacent tissues.

IS ONE KIND OF LASER WAVE ENOUGH?

Laser Hair Removal treatment is based on two parameters:

The first and most important one is skin tone and type; the second one which is equally as important as the first one is hair color.

People in the world belong to six different skin color classifications according to race and geographical features. During laser epilation, laser beam targets the black color which is the color of the hair. As

a result, laser can aim better if hair color is black or close to black.

However, if the skin color is very close to the color of hair; laser will also target the skin and burn it. Therefore, new lasers have been developed that can directly reach the deeper structure of the hair without harming the skin of people with darker skin tones, an important development for our society where people often have

dark skin color. Long pulse Nd: YAG laser is such a laser which is specialized for darker skin tones and tanned skin and reduces the

side effects for the skin.

As stated before, it is more preferable for a lighter-skinned person

to use the latest technology called UPL with its special patented

cap which allows laser beam to reach the hair follicles more effectively and does not affect the adjacent tissues. Keeping the above parameters in mind, our clinic utilizes different types of

lasers.

After the therapy

Attention please

Protection from the sun four weeks before and after the laser application is critical. If there is an obligation which requires you to be under the sun, high factor sunscreens must be used (especially

for face area) (high protection (SPF 50).

If your skin tans between sessions due to sunbathing or solarium, sessions will not continue unless your skin color returns to a color close to your normal tone. Sessions will be postponed until your

skin tone becomes normal.

Warm showers can be taken right after the laser epilation. Any application to the skin that includes peeling should not be undertaken for a week.

It is normal for some redness to develop on and around the treated area which can last for an hour or a couple of days depending on

the person’s skin sensitivity.

Although some people might experience slight swelling, crusting

or acne on the treated area, these problems will heal on their own without any medical assistance.

Root of the hair subjected to laser epilation will start to fall off within 3-10 days or will easily come off when they pulled by hand.

Session intervals are 4 weeks for face, 8 weeks for body parts.

Average number of sessions is 4-8 for body parts, 6-12 sessions for facial regions. This number may vary depending on the skin and

hair type. Hormonal disorders can affect the number of sessions.

In each session, hair density is reduced permanently by 15-20%.

You can see the difference significantly after the third session. If

you attend the sessions regularly after first session, you may not

have a problem with your body hair after then.

After each session for larger areas such as arm-leg-back-chest-genital, you will have right to have a free control session between 15th and 20th days (control sessions which are later than 20 days will affect the course of treatment). For smaller areas, control sessions are not necessary since they don’t contribute to the progress of treatment.
